So the install worked, but the system failed or was slow to boot because

FWIW, I have this in my own lvm.conf:
filter = [ "r|/dev/cdrom.*|" ]
I think that I had to add it for similar reasons, though I have only 1 CD
drive. Does adding the .* at the end work for you?
