Network install was from first available UK download site. Note: The installer didn't work without any parameters, but when the installer was started with parameter "linux26" to use 2.6 kernel, it worked perfectly. Machine: Sony Vaio C1MHP (see: http://kryz.org/vaio.html - not my machine!) Processor: Transmeta Crusoe 867mHz Memory: 256 MB Root Device: 40gb laptop IDE drive. Root Size/partition table: Default installer recommendation, i.e nearly all of the 40gb used as root, small swap partition. Output of lspci and lspci -n: (don't know, don't have computer here) Base System Installation Checklist: [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Initial boot worked: [O] Configure network HW: [O] Config network: [O] Detect CD: [O] Load installer modules: [O] Detect hard drives: [O] Partition hard drives: [O] Create file systems: [O] Mount partitions: [O] Install base system: [O] Install boot loader: [O] Reboot: [O] Comments/Problems: As mentioned above; the installer stops when trying to mount the CD to load installer modules. See Bug#279086 for my other report on that. If the installer is booted with "linux26" to load kernel 2.6 then the installer works perfectly! Maybe add a message on failure that the user should perhaps try different boot options? Another thing that I thought of after doing the install (thus might not belong here) was that I wanted to add my WiFi card, and since I didn't have it in the machine during install, I (afaik) now have to manually install it. A "Detect new hardware" (a la Windows) would be a very good feature. But like I said, not really applicable here. Thanks for a great installer! --------------------------------------- Received: (at 279311-done) by bugs.debian.org; 2 Nov 2004 09:12:31 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Nov 02 01:12:31 2004 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from lns-th2-5f-81-56-227-253.adsl.proxad.net (kheops.homeunix.org) [81.56.227.253] by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1COuiN-0003oA-00; Tue, 02 Nov 2004 01:12:31 -0800 Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by kheops.homeunix.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B90794F986; Tue, 2 Nov 2004 10:11:59 +0100 (CET) Received: from kheops.homeunix.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (kheops [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id 13876-03; Tue, 2 Nov 2004 10:11:56 +0100 (CET) Received: from mykerinos.kheops.frmug.org (mykerinos.kheops.frmug.org [192.168.1.3]) by kheops.homeunix.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A2B724F985; Tue, 2 Nov 2004 10:11:56 +0100 (CET) Received: by mykerinos.kheops.frmug.org (Postfix, from userid 7426) id 8AA042326B; Tue, 2 Nov 2004 10:11:56 +0100 (CET) Date: Tue, 2 Nov 2004 10:11:56 +0100 From: Christian Perrier <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Jocke Selin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Bug#279311: Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> X-message-flag: Outlook is a good virus spreading tool.
