Comments/Problems:
I'm behind a firewall/Web proxy that requires authentication for HTTP, but lets FTP through. So when I first set up apt after rebooting, I told it to use FTP as a file source. It found FTP mirrors all right, but later when it tried to look for HTTP mirrors, it wasn't smart enough to ask me for HTTP proxy information.
I decided to re-do the entire install, and this time I told apt to use HTTP as a file source. This time it did ask me for HTTP proxy information, which worked the first time.
This may be an issue more relating to apt than to the installer, but I figured it was worth reporting here anyway.
