I want to install in /dev/hda8 and leave /dev/hda9-12 as they are. Some of them are bootable from LILO and this new installer changes /dev/hda9-12 to /dev/hda8-11 if I make /dev/hda8 free space. The new partition then will get the name /dev/hda12. This is NOT what I want. The old installers from Debian Slink and Potato do not have this problem. And I cannot find in the menu a choice to make a boot-floppy. I want that floppy becourse I want to make my own lilo.conf to start various operating systems. I like to find the lilo.conf of the new o.s. in /etc as it would be if lilo has run, but whithouth running lilo from the installer. greetings, Martin Rijgersberg. --------------------------------------- Received: (at 277803-done) by bugs.debian.org; 22 Oct 2004 15:46:39 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Oct 22 08:46:38 2004 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from 195-240-184-66-mx.xdsl.tiscali.nl (elrond.fjphome.nl) [195.240.184.66] by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1CL1ck-0005RF-00; Fri, 22 Oct 2004 08:46:38 -0700 Received: from strider.fjphome.nl ([10.19.66.86] ident=fjp) by elrond.fjphome.nl with esmtp (Exim 3.35 #1 (Debian)) id 1CL1cF-0000a0-00; Fri, 22 Oct 2004 17:46:07 +0200 From: Frans Pop <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Martin Rijgersberg <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Bug#277803: Package: installation-reports Date: Fri, 22 Oct 2004 17:46:11 +0200 User-Agent: KMail/1.6.2 References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Disposition: inline Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-6.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_BUG_NUMBER autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 X-Spam-Level: On Friday 22 October 2004 17:07, Martin Rijgersberg wrote: > I want a choice for a partion for de root device whithouht to have make > free space. Just select 'manual partitioning', select your existing hda8 partition, choose 'Use as:' and select for example ext3. Make sure this partition will be formatted and set its mountpoint as '/'. > And I cannot find in the menu a choice to make a boot-floppy. You'll have to find another way to do this, or you could install lilo to /dev/hda8 instead of the MBR. Closing this installation report as there were no real problems.
