Date: 2004/10/19 10:30 Method: CD with net install from ftp.no.debian.org (See below.) Machine: Asus Pundit-R Processor: Intel Pentium 4 2.4 GHz Boxed PC533 Socket PGA478, 1MB cache, Prescott Memory: 2 * TwinMOS PC3200 DDR-DIMM 512MB CL2.5 Root Device: Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 200GB S-ATA 8MB cache 7200RPM Root Size/partition table: 20GB root w/boot partition Output of lspci and lspci -n: What I think is relevant for my problem, from lspci: Ethernet controller: 3 Com Corporation 3COM 3C920B-EMB-WNM Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller (rev 40) and from lspci -n: 0000:02:08.0 0200: 10b7:9202 (rev 40) (When someone tells me how to mount a USB pen drive, or eventually, where the automounted file system is, I'll include the full output as network doesn't work (My problem!) and floppy is not included. I tried to boot /dev/sda with fstype vfat with no success, reformated the stick to ntfs and tried to mount it with ntfs, but still no luck even though it seems to be recognised correctly. I'll give more info when I become desperate.) Base System Installation Checklist: [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Initial boot worked: [O] Configure network HW: [E] Config network: [E] Detect CD: [O] Load installer modules: [O] Detect hard drives: [O] Partition hard drives: [O] Create file systems: [O] Mount partitions: [O] Install base system: [O] Install boot loader: [O] Reboot: [O] Comments/Problems: Everything seemed to go ok until after booting and trying to get apt to work via the network, except DHCP of course. The network module (3c59x) is loaded and ifconfig looks ok, but with ping I can get nowhere. This box is known to have had a problem with detecting its network card, but I thought that this kernel 2.6.8.1 had this fixed. Asus' specs says that the LAN is: "10/100 Mbps Integrated (ATI IXP200 integrated MAC + RealTek 8201BL PHY)", but the network stuff is in some way integrated with the Graphics card: "ATI Radeon 9100 integrated graphics w/DVO support". I got the exact same behavior for pre-rc1. I'll probably add a dedicated, old, network card and try again, but this is as far as I got with the box itself. Apart from the network problem the installation proses worked quite well. Affi -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
