I think we should keep the wishlist bug on countrychooser anyway as Frans idea is interesting for splitting the country list a little bit (this adds one question but at medium priority only). This does no prevent fixing cdebconf anyway as Joey suggests... About the split to "regions" (rather than continents), I think it can be kept for post-sarge and localechooser.
