Ok I added this to my /etc/init.d/discover file:
~ # When used with udev in fast machines, the time between the ~ # module load and device creation need to be bigger or will fail ~ # to make it's directory. ~ if [ "$(pidof udevd)" ]; then ~ sleep 2s ~ fi
And it doesn't do anything different that I can see. The dir "/media/cdrom0" is still not being created. Also I have never installed udev. This is just a stock install of sarge (and the directory "/media/cdrom0" is created and working) and then edit "/etc/apt/sources.list" (change testing to unstable and comment out the security updates line) and then "apt-get update" then "apt-get dist-upgrade" then reboot and the "/media/cdrom0" dir is gone/removed.
