Package: installation-reports

Debian-installer-version: sarge-sparc-netinst.iso dated 24-Apr-2004
from http://cdimage.debian.org/pub/cdimage-testing/daily/sparc/current/
uname -a: did not get that far
Date: 27-Apr-2004 22:30 CEST
Method: net-inst CD

Machine: SparcClassic
Processor: sparc
Memory: 16 MByte
Root Device: SCSI disk 1GByte. ID3
Root Size/partition table: did not get that far

Output of lspci: n/a

Base System Installation Checklist:

Initial boot worked: [E]
Configure network HW: [O]
Config network: [E]
Detect CD: [O]
Load installer modules: [O]
Detect hard drives: [ ]
Partition hard drives: [E]
Create file systems: [ ]
Mount partitions: [ ]
Install base system: [ ]
Install boot loader: [ ]
Reboot: [ ]
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Comments/Problems:

1. booting from CD still needs 'linux root=/dev/rd/0 rw'
   at the SILO prompt
2. as expected: no language choice due to lack of memory
3. no keyboard selection at all. Later, with priority=medium,
I could select 'keyboard' from main menu, but only got the
alternatives 'sun keyboard / USB keyboard', but no german
   layout. Very bad.
4. DHCP only worked on second try.
5. partitioner did not start.

Currently, netboot works _far_ better than this iso!

I cannot test this on sparc32, but on sparc64 with ISOs as of 2004-10-13,
all bugs in this report are fixed
