Retested with pre-rc2 businesscard CD: This time around I can boot the installer with 'install' rather than 'install-safe'. Yay.
I got the red background rather than blue during the install, as described on the pre-rc2 errata page. Display device is the builtin Radeon Mobility 9200. The minor inconvenience with unlisted FTP mirror selection still exists, but I can certainly understand why it hasn't been seen to. The bootstrap partition checking appears to be fixed. Both using the existing partition and creating a new one (different size, different position on the disk) worked OK. Unstable base system install failed due to initrd-tools depending on cramfsprogs and dash, neither of which were going to be installed, and libreadline4 depending on libreadline-common, which was not going to be installed (sorry, I lost the actual error messages for this). I had no problems installing these packages using apt-get. Testing base system install worked fine. thanks, -jonathan. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
