Than I rebooted and installed on a free partition. The home directory is on an extra partition. The swap partition has about 540 MB. If I remember correctly, I just had to change the target runlevel. Now the 2nd runlevel brings a grahical login. I think, the installer did not ask me about that. Install logs and other status info is available in /var/log/debian-installer/.
