Package: partman-partitioning Severity: normal Tags: d-i I'm running the installer on a 565 (or so) mhz celeron with 15 gb of disk space that was all an old windows partition. So this is an older machine, but probably about average for the type of machine that still has a version of windows on it that d-i knows how to resize (instead of ntfs). I chose to resize the windows partition.
First UI glitch is that it took it about 2 minutes with a glue screen of grinding away at the disk after I chose the disk size from the menu and before anything else came up. I don't know what it was doing at this time, but it was disconcerting to take so long and access the disk so much before I'd asked it to do anything. Next, it asked me to confirm the current changes to the disks. Only problem is, I had not yet made any changes, so this was a useless prompt. Finally, it let me choose a new size for the partition. After I hit enter, it accessed the disk and sat with a blank screen for another minute or so before bringing up the resize progress bar. I think that progress bar should be brought up with less delay. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.27 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US -- see shy jo
