First install with an onboard (Asus P2B-VM) old ESS Solo11938 chip. Bad sound. Second install with a Creative Labs ISA SB16. No sound. Third install with a Creative Labs ISAPNP AWE64. No sound. I've exhausted variations from alsa.opensrc.org/index.php?page=Quick+Install and www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/. modprobe snd-sbawe FATAL: Error inserting snd_sbawe (/lib/modules/2.6.7-1-386/kernel/sound/isa/sb/snd-sbawe.ko): No such device (Note that this sound is good with a Knoppix boot).
