Remains the fact that the CD/DVD-ROM is not detected and this don't allow to install Debian using the 2.6 kernel.
Also installing with the 2.4 and then switching to 2.6 kernel lost the DVD-ROM. It seems that when SATA driver loads, it allocates the ports required by IDE-CD driver that then fails to enable the DVD-ROM. In Knoppix (using 2.6.6 kernel) all works fine! Daniele P.S. Someone read these emails?
