Beta 4 is very old, and I know that current daily builds have fixed many issues on powerpc. This should be fixed in current dailies, although I've heard some worrying reports in the last few days. > When I rebooted, it didn't use a wizard, it came up with a menu to > choose one of the options (that included "Show welcome dialog") and > surprisingly, there were no way to login after that, just like if it > didn't start any getty... Run through the menu and it will. Normally it would do that itself, but the errors you encountered in the first stage forced it down into expert mode. > modconf wasn't isntalled!?!?!?!?! modconf is really a boot-floppies thing. > devfsd wasn't isntalled (which caused the init problem...) No, devfsd shouldn't be installed; don't mount devfs on reboot. You should be fine if you run through base-config properly.
