Method:
How did you install? -> Hmm... I chose my packets to install the days before
(using aptitude), hacked a script to combine the package lists and
the aptitude status file into a list of files to download,
created my own 2 CDs using the local debian mirror at university,
(unstable dist), copied these CDs onto my second HD, generated the
required "Release" files and MD5Sums as well as cut-down package
lists (Packages.gz). Now after booting the installer, I mounted
the second HD (after leaving the filesys intact) and specified
file:/debian/... as source. ... And it worked at the first attempt!
(Just that I forgot some files and had to use debian mirror to
dl them lateron.)
What did you boot off? -> from installer ISO CD image (100Mb)
If network install, from where? -> no network install
Proxied? -> n/a

Comments/Problems:
First of all: Really great! It correctly detected all the hw in
my system. (Okay, there are no fancy things inside and all the
stuff already worked with my previous debian install -- except
the built-in sound which I finally got working using ALSA and
vanilla kernel-2.6.3).
One thing I would really like to get changed is the ability
to scroll up and see errors: After the installer ran some tasks,
it overwrites the current screen with its gray backgound and
(possibly) an error message (ala something failed). Hence, if
you scroll up, you can NOT see the last 25 lines of output
(which were just overwritten) but only those before. Typically
that prevents one from seeing the actual error. In my case it was
a missing file on the self-made debian 2-CD-"mirror" and only
trying several times and pressing scroll lock quickly enough
made me finally see the error message from apt.
Keyboard: I chose US english language and german keyboard.
Unfortunately, the german "Umlauts" are missing and I get [EMAIL PROTECTED]
when pressing these keys...?! And after updating some packets
(using aptitude), my modified and finally working boottime.kmap was
again overwritten without saving my modified version...
