Package: installation-reports Debian-installer-version: Beta 4, sarge, i386 uname -a: LInux tsac 2.4.25-1-386 #2 Wed Apr 14 19:38:08 EST 2004 i586 unknown Date: Fri May 14 2004 Method: Normal install, one disk, used totally
Machine: Old 1995 desktop (i doubt if this is machine-specific, if it is, mail me) Processor: Pentium-MMX 200MHz Base System Installation Checklist: Initial boot worked: [O] Configure network HW: [O] Config network: [O] Detect CD: [O] Load installer modules: [O] Detect hard drives: [O] Partition hard drives: [E] Create file systems: [E] Mount partitions: [ ] Install base system: [ ] Install boot loader: [ ] Reboot: [ ] [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Comments/Problems: The partitioner gives me the option to do LVM, which is cool, so i tried to use it. I emptied the partition-table of the harddisk, made one partition and told it to be a LVM physical volume. Next, i go to the LVM config -> Volume groups -> Create VG. It then says there are no available PV's (in some other words). While i just made one. I had to execute on the console: pvcreate /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part1 Then it worked. Also, before we are allowed in the LVM config, the partitioner asks if it should write the changes to the disk (actually, it tells you it has to be done and allows you to go back). I suppose that's where it goes wrong, that step should issue the 'pvcreate' command, i think. Good luck. :) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
