Obviously the CD was not being found. When all the packages had been pulled from the network the install just sat there trying to find the CD. In the errata page you mention, "*cdrom not added to fstab.* /etc/fstab will not contain an entry for your CD-ROM drive. Fixed in the daily builds." in the known issues. If this is the problem then might I suggest you make it a bit more obvious that beta-3 is knackered and that users should download the daily build (which I'm doing right now). The workaround is to fix /etc/fstab. The netinst CD is not needed for the second stage install anyway, you should be downloading packages from the network at that point.
