I'm adding something to hw-detect so you can boot with hw-detect/start_pcmcia=false to disable starting of pcmcia. This is a workaround, at least. After the string freeze is over I will make it also prompt at medium priority before starting pcmcia, and we can look at adding resource range questions too.
