... but (hee hee, you saw that coming!)...

Seriously, I installed beta 3 a few days ago using the regular (non expert) install,
and in about 10 clicks, had an operational Debian base installed. Installed x-windows,
kde and was up and running 100%. The only problem were the mirrors I originally chose
(ftp.us.debian.org and ftp.debian.org) timed out. I chose the closest mirror
(cudenver) and everything downloaded at my max speed. I would've liked to install a
2.6 kernel, but wasn't offered, so it left it as installed.

Pressing my luck, I later chose an expert install, everything there went well (got my
2.6 kernel), but things took a turn for the worst during base-config. I believe I was
asked about installing PPP, but chose not to (I connect via dsl). My next choices had
to do with selecting apt-get sources, but non of the sources were recognized. I even
hand editted my source.list file, but nothing worked. I now have a fresh new base
system, but nothing else.

I tried installing a third time with apm=on, but it still hangs when apt-get sources
are offered. Did I hurt something by turning down installing PPP?

Thanks for any help.
