Support for the qlogicisp controller still causes hardware hangs, but I wasn't using the SCSI functionality on this card, so rm'ing the module from the initrd let me sneak past this stage without enduring DEBCONF_PRIORITY=low. Everything else worked fine until the end, when the installer picked the wrong kernel (bug in kernel-installer, picking a default from the available list) and, er, "neglected" to install the bootloader because there's no aboot-installer package available.
