So I made a floppy (fakeroot make TYPE=floppy) and dd it into a disk. The system still cannot recognize the floppy as bootable. I did tried with three different floppies. Then I made a new floopy (TYPE=bootfloppy) and the system booted. At the prompt I typed: 'expert bootkbd=it' then inserted the second floppy, when prompted for. choose language --> italian select a keyboard layout --> AT keyboard --> it layout detect of netwrok card --> 8239too configure the network --> DHCP --> (very long waiting) after a long waiting I went to tty4 and saw that the DHCP was ended correctly and a new address was bound, then there was an error: dhclient: Can't create /var/run/dhclient.pid: No such file or directory So i switched to tty1 and control-C, then the main menu appeared again and I select 'select a mirror' but the following screen drove me to the network configuration. I choosed again DHCP and I got the same problem. So, back again, I selected 'static' and inputed all required data After this, I did tried the menu 'select a mirror' but I was still driven at the same point: network configuration. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: powerpc Kernel: Linux eppesuig3 2.4.23-ben1 #1 Wed Dec 17 20:14:46 CET 2003 ppc Locale: LANG=it_IT, LC_CTYPE=it_IT --------------------------------------- Received: (at 225124-done) by bugs.debian.org; 27 Dec 2003 16:36:09 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Dec 27 10:36:08 2003 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from host195-81.pool80117.interbusiness.it (eppesuigoccas.homedns.org) [80.117.81.195] by master.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1AaHKX-0000UF-00; Sat, 27 Dec 2003 10:30:21 -0600 Received: from [192.168.2.11] (helo=-allhosts) by eppesuigoccas.homedns.org with asmtp (Exim 3.35 #1 (Debian)) id 1AaHKV-0005UW-00; Sat, 27 Dec 2003 17:30:19 +0100 Subject: please close this bug report From: Giuseppe Sacco <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Content-Type: text/plain Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Ximian Evolution 1.4.5 Date: Sat, 27 Dec 2003 17:30:18 +0100 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-master.debian.org_2003_11_25-bugs.debian.org_2003_12_15 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on master.debian.org X-Spam-Status: No, hits=0.0 required=4.0 tests=none autolearn=no version=2.60-master.debian.org_2003_11_25-bugs.debian.org_2003_12_15 X-Spam-Level: As joey suggested the problem was resolved using netcfg 0.39.
