Since ide-scsi is compiled in, /etc/fstab should refer to /dev/sr0 instead of /dev/hdX. A change in /etc/fstab fixed it. Sometimes, at reboot, my DFE-530-TX rev A1 is not recognized and via-rhine gives "Invalid MAC address for card #0". Booting from a potato CD never gives this problem...
