Base System Installation Checklist: Initial boot worked: [O] Configure network HW: [E] Config network: [E] Detect CD: [E] Load installer modules: [O] Detect hard drives: [?] Partition hard drives: [E] Create file systems: [E] Mount partitions: [E] Install base system: [E] Install boot loader: [E] Reboot: [E] [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Comments/Problems: Whatever I pass as parameters (cdrom debug aic7xxx=no_probe video=vga16:off apm=off noapic), the behaviour is identical: Load kernel from CDROM; after 2 seconds the menu Language Selection shows up. Whatever I click here, the steps are Detecting Hardware (very fast) Loading Kernel-Modules (very fast; except for ide) Loading components of the Debian Installer (normal) Detecting Hardware (extremely fast) Loading Kernel-Modules (just a flash) Next, the whole thing freezes (Power as Reset is only chance) with a blue screen (pun !) and a single white line at the bottom; black cursor at the left, not blinking. On terminal two we get a normal shell; dmesg without problems (difficult to store it) On terminal 3 we get Debug Info; at the only possible break during language selection nothing spectacular; a few warnings on unavailable .udeb modules and dependencies. Observing this terminal during the deadly seconds after selecting any language (Enter->Alt-F4), it always ends with insmod cdrom 2>/dev/null insmod ide-cd 2>/dev/null using /lib/modules/2.4.22-1-386/kernel/fs/isofs/isofs.o insmod isofs 2>/dev/null and then everything is frozen as described above until Power-Off Ask if more info can be helpful ! -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
