debian/changelog contains:

and thus I assumed that these country codes have to be translated.

Repeat after me: ISO-3166, ISO-3166, ISO-3166 :)
Anyway, IMO these codes are only used internally, so we can replace them
by English country names everywhere.

Alastair, no offense in mind, but do you read debian-boot? I sent 2
messages after your commit, and if I know you do not read debian-boot,
I will Cc you next time.
About comments, you can add them just above your translated field, see
for instance the debian-installer/choose-mirror/title template.
