The basic install from the=20= first CD works fine but when base-config asks me to scan the other CD:s=20= for more packages to install I get into difficulty. There is no CD=20 eject button on my mac model! There is of course an eject button on the=20= Pioneer CD drive but it's completely hidden behind the front cover. The=20= usual way to eject a CD from MacOS is to hit the eject button on the=20 keyboard. That doesn't work in Linux (at least not on my Swedish=20 keyboard). I've tried to use the eject command from another virtual=20 console but the eject command has not been installed as part of basic=20 install. Suggestions: 1) Add support for the hardware eject button on the keyboard. 2) Add a software eject button in the base-config program. 3) Add the eject command to the the basic install and add a description=20= in the installation manual of how to use this from another virtual=20 console. --=20 Anders Liljegren Mail: IT-st=F6d, Uppsala = universitet Phone: +46 18 4717751 Box 887 Fax: +46 18 4717725 SE-751 08 UPPSALA mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sweden mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (<130 chars, end with empty line) http://www.anst.uu.se/andelilj --------------------------------------- Received: (at 215639-done) by bugs.debian.org; 14 Oct 2003 00:47:43 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Oct 13 19:47:43 2003 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from fed1mtao08.cox.net [68.6.19.123] by master.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1A9DLi-0003vd-00; Mon, 13 Oct 2003 19:47:42 -0500 Received: from iMacBlue ([68.107.134.103]) by fed1mtao08.cox.net (InterMail vM.5.01.06.05 201-253-122-130-105-20030824) with SMTP id <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Mon, 13 Oct 2003 20:47:41 -0400 Received: by iMacBlue (sSMTP sendmail emulation); Mon, 13 Oct 2003 17:48:35 +4100 From: "Chris Tillman" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Mon, 13 Oct 2003 17:48:35 -0700 To: Anders Liljegren <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: Andreas Wallin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, Emil Pedersen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: Bug#215639: No CD eject button Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> User-Agent: Mutt/1.3.28i Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-5.7 required=4.0 tests=EMAIL_ATTRIBUTION,QUOTED_EMAIL_TEXT version=2.53-bugs.debian.org_2003_10_13 X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.53-bugs.debian.org_2003_10_13 (1.174.2.15-2003-03-30-exp) On Sat, Jan 03, 1970 at 12:30:14AM +0100, Anders Liljegren wrote: > Package: base-config > Version: 1.33.18 > > Problem: > > I've tried to install Debian Linux 3.0r1 PPC on my Power Mac G4 > (QuickSilver 2002) from a set of 7 CD disks. The eject command will be available in the new installer. Unfortunately, the installer you are using has not been updated for a long time; the bug is a known one. -- Debian GNU/Linux Operating System By the People, For the People Chris Tillman (a people instance) toff one at cox dot net -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
