The computer doesn't recognize the CD as bootable. It just passes it by and boots to the HD. The CD does boot on other systems just fine (I tested it on 2 others). I confirmed that the laptop was configured correctly by checking the BIOS settings and booting to a Gentoo Linux CD, the Gentoo CD seems to work just fine. It is only a minor inconvenience since I was able to install from floppies. In fact I was able to boot the system with the rescue and root floppies and then load the drivers from the CD, and at the first reboot step Debian correctly recognizes the CD as bootable and warns me to take it out. I am using Debian GNU/Linux 3.0(Woody), kernel 2.4 Thank you very much, bernie www.bernieberg.com --------------------------------------- Received: (at 142076-done) by bugs.debian.org; 21 Dec 2002 15:45:57 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Dec 21 09:45:41 2002 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from quechua.inka.de (mail.inka.de) [193.197.184.2] (mail) by master.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.12 1 (Debian)) id 18Plor-0005nn-00; Sat, 21 Dec 2002 09:45:41 -0600 Received: from zombie.inka.de (nobody@[127.0.0.1]) by mail.inka.de with uucp (rmailwrap 0.5) id 18Plop-0007Xs-00; Sat, 21 Dec 2002 16:45:39 +0100 Received: from inet by zombie with local (Exim 3.36 #1 (Debian)) id 18PjIi-0007oZ-00 for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Sat, 21 Dec 2002 14:04:20 +0100 Date: Sat, 21 Dec 2002 14:04:20 +0100 From: Eduard Bloch <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: No data Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit User-Agent: Mutt/1.4i Sender: Eduard Bloch <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-7.2 required=5.0 tests=SIGNATURE_SHORT_DENSE,SPAM_PHRASE_00_01,USER_AGENT, USER_AGENT_MUTT version=2.41 X-Spam-Level: You did not provide any additional for a long time.
