Janne, This work-around did the trick. I really appreciate your input. Thanks you so much! Woody is up and running on my Dell Inspiron 8000. Quite a relief after my unsuccessful conversion from progeny debian and subsequent problems installing Woody from scratch.
David, Is it fair to say this is a bug that should submitted at the debian site? Atleast two of us have had this problem. --- Janne Morén <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > OK, so only semi-solved (so far), but I found out how to get around it. > > The device stuff is setup fine, so all you need to do is to activate the > network manually: > > ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.2 (or whatever IP you want it to have) > route add default gw 192.168.0.1 (or whatever gw) > > Then go back to the install screen and choose 'alternate', to go on with > the installation. choose 'network' install, and you're on your way. > --- Janne Morén <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I saw your message on the debian list archive. When I complete network configuration I'm told that the network is configured but not active. Re-configuring either PCMCIA or network does not fix this. > > -David ===== Clinton S.
