Package: boot-floppies Version: N/A; reported 2002-07-24 Severity: minor This was previously reported on the debian-boot mailing-list <http://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2002/debian-boot-200207/msg00324.html>
I do not take much risk pretending that the "disks-i386/current/" directory tree is extremely confusing for most people, especially for the newcomers. <http://www.debian.org/releases/unstable/i386/ch-install-methods.en.html#s4.2> I think a simple (?) modification would greatly enhance understanding of this (lack of?) order and enhance understanding of the whole "4.2 Downloading Files from Debian Mirrors" section in general: the addition of "vanilla" sub-directories. For instance, today, you can find "kernel-config" files at 3 (!) different depths in the hierarchy. Using "vanilla" sub-dirs (or "default" sub_dirs, or even both names with a symbolic link,...), would reduce this to 2 different depths only, and even 1 depth only for most other files. -- System Information Debian Release: 3.0 Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux drisse 2.2.20 #1 mer avr 3 17:56:42 CEST 2002 i586 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
