Package: boot-floppies Version: 3.0.22 Severity: normal Hi!
First of all it would be good that the B50 machine is tagged as a chrp machine and not as a prep machine on the Boot Floppies doc. This is the log of trying to boot a B50 machine with the kernel from Boot Floppies 3.0.22 using the chrp kernel, as you can see if fails: boot net:,linux.bin root=/dev/fd0 load_ramdisk=1 console=ttyS0 BOOTP R = 1 BOOTP S = 1 FILE: linux.bin Load Addr=0x4000 Max Size=0xbfc000 Packet Count = 100 Packet Count = 200 Packet Count = 300 Packet Count = 400 Packet Count = 500 Packet Count = 600 Packet Count = 700 Packet Count = 800 Packet Count = 900 Packet Count = 1000 Packet Count = 1100 Packet Count = 1200 Packet Count = 1300 Packet Count = 1400 Packet Count = 1500 Packet Count = 1600 Packet Count = 1700 Packet Count = 1800 FINAL Packet Count = 1826 FINAL File Size = 934669 bytes. chrpboot starting: loaded at 0x400000 avail_ram = 4e5000 gunzipping (0x10000 <- 0x415cb8:0x4e3194)...done 1934704 bytes start address = 0x10000 instantiating rtas...rtas at 00565000 done copying OF device tree...done booting... device tree used 29192 bytes No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character No RTAS service called display-character Total memory = 256MB; using 1024kB for hash table (at c0300000) Linux version 2.2.20-chrp (root@voltaire) (gcc version 2.95.4 20011002 (Debian prerelease)) #1 Thu Mar 21 16:32:58 EST 2002 Boot arguments: root=/dev/fd0 load_ramdisk=1 console=ttyS0 Warning: no mac-io found PCI bus 0 controlled by pci at 80000000 RTAS Event Scan Rate: 1 (2999 jiffies) OpenPIC Version 1.0 (4 CPUs and 16 IRQ sources) at f7fc0000 OpenPIC timer frequency is not set time_init: decrementer frequency = 1246838820/60 Console: colour dummy device 80x25 Calibrating delay loop... This continues with similar messages till you reboot it, the machine never gets rebooted by itself. I have booted the machine with other kernel and is now almost installed, maybe I can help in testing or even compiling kernels for this kind of machines. Don't know if this problem is extensive for other chrp machines. Hope this helps.
