Package: meta-kde
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-CC: debian-boot@lists.debian.org

A merge request against tasksel has been created yesterday
to deal with package dependencies for the KDE desktop
(basically the question, which packages should be installed
by default for the KDE desktop).

That reminded me again about something I would like to
propose:

I wish this all could be changed in the way like GNOME recently
did: have a metapackage, where the task-kde-desktop package
depends on, and make the metapackage depend on all packages,
the KDE people want to have in their desktop.

That way, KDE people could handle requests like this one by
themselves.
In fact, it's KDE people who have to decide anyway, which packages
to include, but the installer-team has to implement it currently.
That could be changed, to make life easier for everyone.

There are already metapackages for KDE like kde-baseapps or
kde-full; maybe they can be used to achieve this, or a new one to
be created.
