For completeness: A friend of mine tested all 3 available options (VBoxVGA, VMSVGA, and VBoxSVGA) in VirtualBox, on both Windows and Apple hosts, and the graphical installer worked fine for him in all cases, so it looks like the VirtualBox reports we've received are about a different issue (and we're lacking feedback at the moment).
