Package: firmware-ath9k-htc Version: 1.4.0-108-gd856466+dfsg1-1.2 Severity: serious Justification: regression in hardware support X-Debbugs-Cc: b...@debian.org, debian-ker...@lists.debian.org, debian-boot@lists.debian.org
Hi, Here's another thing that was totally overlooked while forcing the switch from firmware-atheros to firmware-ath9k-htc in an uncoordinated manner: the dep-11 metadata are (1) hardcoded in the firmware-ath9k-htc package, and (2) out-of-date. This means we're actively losing support for hardware by switching from the non-free package to the one in main! Right now, the following entries are missing: - AirTies AR9271 - Altai WA1011N-GU Those date back to v4.12-rc1 (2017) and v4.16-rc1 (2018) respectively: - https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=16ff1fb0e32f76a5d285a6f23b82d21aa52813c6 - https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=4e12d654ba068df06c5e4c8322d7dcced41e48ee Surely checking feature parity should have been the very first step?
