I only found reports of issues from installs during 2021… nobody reports the successful installs, only the problems. After researching a lot about firmware needs and possible issues with the i225-LM Network drivers, I had first tried installing by using standard iso image on a USB stick (https://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current/amd64/bt-dvd/debian-11.2.0-amd64-DVD-1.iso.torrent) including the non-free firmware as a source on a second USB stick (https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/firmware/bullseye/current/firmware.zip), this did succeed (without the firmware source it failed), but there were some odd errors on the first boot using this firmware source method, and I was worried that there would be missing or incomplete drivers somewhere, clearly I had missed something. So I then decided to install with this firmware image which was much simpler, and there was absolutely no issue or extra effort needed during (or after) the install concerning hardware. Just for info, I also tried using an Ubuntu Server image with this NUC, this also worked without any extra input/firmware (ubuntu-20.04.3-live-server-amd64.iso) I set up the system in probably a really odd way, this NUC has two SSDs, one NVMe and one SATA. I first set up the EFI boot (550MB) and a small recovery install (4GB without swap) on the SATA, the theory being that the chances are greater that the NVMe SSD will fail first (overheating, intense use, faster interface, etc) so the SATA drive is hopefully more secure, and the recovery system can be used for rsync-ing the system partitions to a backup on the SATA. Then I installed the main system on the NVMe, leaving a 550MB gap for an EFI boot partition in the future, and a 64GB root. Just for fun I added a 64GB swap partition at the end… I don’t know how much I’ll need that, but it doesn’t do any harm. I access the NUC only with ssh, so I can switch between these two systems by using grub-reboot to call the appropriate system from the grub menu… this works very reliably. I’d be really happy if you can add the NUC11TNKv5 to the list of successful installs, even if I had to use the non-free image, I am VERY happy with this system, thanks to the entire Debian community! :) Cheers, Charles
