Comments/Problems:
I went with an encrypted LVM installation as that's what I usually use.
I already have an existing Debian Buster install on a separate SSD so I
configured
the installer to not use the EFI partition on that drive. (I prefer to have it
on
the same drive as the OS).
I stuck with the default tasksel options (GNOME desktop), and the installation
went very smoothly.
I do get the usual firmware missing warnings when booting (see below), but
there
was no trouble starting GNOME or gdm. I do experience some degraded
performance,
but it is usable for most tasks that don't require GPU acceleration.
It isn't optimal, but I have a working environment to install the proprietary
driver
from here.
