Package: debian-installer Version: 11.0.0 Severity: important X-Debbugs-Cc: johannes.dr...@nfon.com
Dear maintainer, using the expert installer console (non-GUI) results in a loop at stage 'Configure package manager'. At this point a valid custom mirror was already given and accepted (prior to 'user and passwords'), apt is reading in the installer medium and asks if another is to be read. Within this dialog keyboard input starts acting weird (arrow keys switch consoles instead of options, only TAB and ENTER do their job properly). Furthermore when declining another install medium it executes cdset and jumps directly back to 'configure package manager' in the main menu, without asking for the mirror again (as would be done in the GUI expert installer). Now TAB does not work any longer, left/right arrow keys still switch console and only the down arrow key can be used. Whatever one selects next, it always jumps directly back to the package manager configuration, creating a loop without escape. As far as I can remember this was not the case in RC1 of the installer. Machine in question is a SuperMicro server being installed via Java iKVM Viewer. In unrelated news: When using german keyboard settings, dash (-) is not working but replaced by ß when setting up server name/mirrors. Using the numpad minus key is working properly, so no big issue. -- System Information: Debian Release: 11.0 APT prefers stable-security APT policy: (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 5.10.0-8-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU threads) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_PROPRIETARY_MODULE, TAINT_OOT_MODULE, TAINT_UNSIGNED_MODULE Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled
