I fixed (?) the network issues by putting a 10MB hub between the Tecra and the rest of the network. Other than the collision light lighting up the night, it works fine with a data rate of about 1 MB/sec.
That, however, did not fix the detection issue. I still get no network during installation. Once installation is done, and I can bring up the computer, I added eth0 to /etc/network/interfaces, and I could bring it up and run it. -- Does anybody read signatures any more? https://charlescurley.com https://charlescurley.com/blog/
