Dear Maintainer,
* What led up to the situation?
I booted Debian Live Standard on a Dell Latitude D620 laptop with fr layout
(azerty) and chose 'with localisation' at boot and selected French.
But when I get the prompt in the shell, the keyboard is in qwerty mode (it's no
fun typing this message) and the accented characters are not displayed
correctly (that makes dpkg-reconfigure interface particularly not sexy).
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
sudo apt update -> everything up to date
I followed the instructions from Debian wiki
sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration
I chose all options for French keyboard layout (listed below)
sudo service keyboard-setup restart
* What was the outcome of this action?
Nothing at all : no change of layout
* What outcome did you expect instead?
That my kb layout be changed to a civilized one :-)
I also checked that the locales are fr_FR UTF-8 and they are.
(this is the first time I file a bug report, and I'm very sorry to bother you ;
I'm usually able to fix things on my own, but I can't figure out
what's going on herem and it seems important : Debian IS reliable so if it says
it's gonna boot with french locales, then it has to !)
bugreport told me to try a newer version of keyboard-configuration, from
testing or unstable, but shouldn't this be fixed in stable ?
By the way, thanks and bravo to all the maintainers and the people behind
Debian for the huge work and this fantastic distro.
