Some MD/LVM suggestions
1) The manual (probably in Chapter 6) should explain what order of operations
you would probably want to do certain things when partitioning. Operations
like,
* creating physiscal partitions on the disk
* creating MD devices
* creating LVM devices
Some examples,
* While the installer will let you create an MD device out of some existing
partitions and then try to re-partition it, it doesn't work. joeyh said
there's a bug open for this since d-i shouldn't let you do this. Even if d-i
is changed to disallow that, it would be nice to explain that the proper way
to use MD arrays is one per filesystem (or possibly LVM on top of an MD array).
* Can MD go straight on a raw disk? On a partition? On an LVM device?
* Can LVM go straight on a raw disk? On a partition? On an MD device?
If d-i ever adds support for crypto layers, that will need to be considered
too.
2.) I'm not sure if all combinations of the above work for /boot. It would be
good to document what works and explain why you might want to make /boot (and
maybe even / ) non-MD/non-LVM partitions.

This is quite complete. Also, the installer now does LVM encrypted
install with a simple click. So I think this bug report can be closed :)
I usually say "feel free to reopen or ask me to do it if you see the bug
again", but in this case I think the improvements to the doc should
start from the current situation.
