I wonder if it would be possible to have dbootstrap look for extra translation files on the CD, if the user passed the "cdrom" argument (or maybe even if a CD was autodetected).
There should be plenty of space on the ramdisk itself at runtime, so it should just be a question of "cp /cdrom/po/messages.* /etc" or the like.
