Thanks for your feedback and favoring my idea! Since you and Martin both say it works for the serial case, I considered again and changed my mind. Yes, serial console like VT100 should be also applied. I joined d-i devel just weeks ago. So I need some time to be familiar with everything. I'll try to make it happen before Stretch.
