Yes, and in my memory this directory was automatically copied from the xkb-data package, so perhaps at some point Anton had commited the upgrade to a newer xkb-data, but Christian built it with the old xkb-data, and thus had the file there, untracked by git, and thus it never got removed from his checkout.
