You mean you have a PS/2 style connector?  That doesn't make any
difference: in electrical terms the keyboards are just the same.

You don't say which version of the boot-floppies you are using, or which
flavour.  But you could try entering "kbd-reset" when it asks for extra
parameters during bootup, or using a different kernel.
