It's probably a problem of detecting memory layout. Newer systems use
e820 and discontiguous memory, so you end up with only a small part
of it. Newer version of gnumach handles it properly. I don't remember
exactly which images do have it, gnumach 2:1.3.99.dfsg.git20130610-1 (as
its name suggests, released on 10th June 2013) and further have it. The
2013 release was earlier than that, so it doesn't have it, newer
snapshots are needed.
