The Debian install is lengthy and requires user input throughout
the process. I started the install (on my multiple O/S PC) but had
to interrupt it to do some Windows work. When I rebooted, the install
didn't restart from where it had been stopped, didn't use all the (600+)
files that had been downloaded and had no record of the responses
I had made (particularly the selected packages).
It would be nice, once the root filesystem has been set up, to
have a install control file that contains the necessary information entered
by the user and the last successful step reached. (Alternatively,
the install control file could be located on ANY available filesystem.)
Then the install process could have install interrupt points, restart
points and some mechanism to recognize/locate them.

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't think it's reasonably
implementable.
