ISO GPT checksum is still wrong due to Xorriso bug. https://www.mail-archive.com/debian-cd@lists.debian.org/msg21403.html 1. Same comments on documentation apply. It is not possible to do what the documentation suggests and create an extra partition on the USB stick for firmware. 2. Grub font still tiny (no hidpi) 3. Grub cosmetic video corruption still occurs after select 4. Debian installer font still tiny (no hidpi) 5. Touchpad does not work at all. (graphical install) 6. "Detect network hardware" does not find wifi card. Manually selecting b43 fails (there is no attempt to mount USB drive like in debian-7.4.0-amd64-netinst). 7. Manually re-selecting b43 does nothing. First time attempts to load from /lib/firmware/, after that nothing. Kernel module needs reloading. Workaround: rmmod b43; mount -tvfat /dev/sdc /mnt; mkdir /lib/firmware; cp -a /mnt/b43 /lib/firmware/ # then manually select b43 in installer 8. (graphical install) "(WW) The fbdev driver didn't call xf86SetGamma to initialise the gamma values PLEASE FIX THE 'fbdev' DRIVER!" 9. (graphical install) "Fatal server error (EE) Server is already active for display 0" 10. (Manual partitioning) Trying to install a btrfs fs on existing partition results in: red screen "Failed to create a file system", log shows "/dev/sda3 appears to contain an existing filesystem (btrfs). Error: Use the -f option to force overwrite." (This is Debian bug #721847) https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=721847 Workaround: select "Erase data on this partition" when setting up partition (this zeroes the partition, may take a long time) OR "Format this partition"=no and manually mkfs.btrfs Note: bug only affects btrfs, other fs types work fine. This breaks installs where user will manually partition outside of installer. 11. (Configure the package manager) The wifi kept disconnecting with error "ieeee80211 phy1: wlan0: No probe response from AP ... after 500ms, disconnecting" https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1233960 and http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-828545-start-0.html suggests this is due to QOS or Powersave being enabled on the Broadcom driver or incompatible DHCP client. Arch sugggest this can be fixed by changing settings on the AP (which is no use if you don't control it) https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wireless_network_configuration (I just kept retrying and eventually it worked...) 12. clock-setup unable to set time. many "clock-setup: rdate: invalid cookie received, rejected packet", then "rdate: too many bad or lost packets" (I would put this down to being a network issue, but I was able to run wget ok while these messages were appearing, and the subsequent 600MB+ installer download went ok) 13. On reboot grub screen is again only 1/5 width of full screen (Debian logo takes up full screen, but the white outlined grub box is narrow) 14. firmware-b43-installer is not installed. The firmware packages supplied to the user got copied to /lib/firmware/b43 but this directory belongs to no package. Workaround: mv /lib/firmware/b43{,.old}; apt-get install firmware-b43-installer == POST-INSTALL ISSUES == (Not issues with the installer itself, but issues with the default install that were immediately apparent) 15. Visible tearing vertical scrolling in iceweasel 16. XFCE DPI setting is wrong. In XFCE Settings>Appearance>Fonts>DPI>Custom DPI is checked and set to 96 by default. (under wheezy there was no custom dpi set, XFCE used Xorg DPI which was 224dpi) 17. Xorg DPI is wrong. 'xdpyinfo' says (2560x1600 pixels, 676x423 millimeters, 96x96 dots per inch). [In comparison, the Wheezy XFCE livecd 'xdpyinfo' says (2560x1600 pixels 290x181 millimeters, 224x225 dots per inch)] Note: this might be deliberate, Xorg defaults to 96 now (?), what I don't understand is why XFCE has the custom DPI checked and also set to 96. Everything looks far too small. 18. Mute key broken. Start VLC, play a video. Press mute key, mute icon appears and sound is muted. Press mute key again, unmute icon appears, but sound is still muted. Restarting VLC did not cause the sound to come back, so this is a desktop or drive issue, not application. 19. Fast-forward/Rewind keys wrong - use in VLC, text appears "previous" "next", but those would be |< >| keys not << and >>. 20. Keyboard backlight does not work. Backlight keys do not work. 21. VLC playback has tearing. 22. Chromium does not do HiDpi (to be fair, a lot of apps don't, but I had expected Chromium to work since it works on the Pixel) http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=143619 23. Expose/Dashboard keys (f3, f4) do nothing (does XFCE have any similar functionality to map?) 24. After boot, the lightdm login screen power menu has options (suspend, hibernate, restart, shutdown) even though device can't hibernate. After logging in and logging out, the power button only shows (suspend, shutdown). lightdm is not initialising this correctly somewhere. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
