Package: base-installer Severity: normal The CD images include linux-headers packages, but d-i does not install these by default. I think that it should, so that if the user needs to build out of tree kernel modules they don't need to jump through the additional hoops of learning that Debian has separated kernel headers and how to install them. If we begin installing it by default, users should come to just expect that they can build kernel modules from source without doing anything more than a make, which will be a good thing.
