That's great news. Tajik was among our "missing languages" and Tajikistan one of the blank spots on my quite well known worldmap of supported languages in D-I..:-) So, let's start to go through the new language process (http://d-i.alioth.debian.org/doc/i18n/ch03.html), which you indeed initiated.... > Below is information, which may help to add new language (Tajik language) to > Debian. But it seems to be some of my translations are already there: > http://www.debian.org/international/l10n/po/tg > > > > TAJIK LANGUAGE IDENTIFICATION > > > > Language name in English: Tajik > > Language name in Tajik: Тоҷикӣ > > Language code: tg, tgk, tg_TJ > > Coordinator's name: Victor Ibragimov > > Coordinator's email: victor.ibragi...@gmail.com Recorded in the list of supported and "soon to be supported" languages of Debian Installer. That completes step 1 > > > > DETAILS FOR NEW MAILING LIST > > Name: debian-l10n-ta...@lists.debian.org > > Rationale: This mailing list is created to support Tajik translations for > Debian > > Category: Internationalization and Translations > > Subscription Policy: open > > Post Policy: open > > Web Archive: yes To get a mailing list on Debian list servers, you need to follow the guidelines described at http://lists.debian.org. For l10n lists, it's usually encouraged to build a small community first (eventually by using a mailign list not hosted on Debian servers), then request the creation of the list. Otherwise, experience shows that we have too many empty mailing lists. But that's often debated as a list is also likely to attract contributors : chicken and egg problem. Anyway, all these informations complete steps 1 and 2 of the new language process. 3.1. First contact with Debian Installer development team 3.2. New language identification The bnext step is "3.3. Locale checking/writing ": http://d-i.alioth.debian.org/doc/i18n/ch03s03.html The Tajik locale already exists in Debian: cperrier@mykerinos:~/src/debian/debian-installer/trunk/installer/doc/i18n(master) $ ls -l /usr/share/i18n/locales/tg_TJ -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 6377 juin 30 01:34 /usr/share/i18n/locales/tg_TJ So, step 3 is completed too..:-) Now for step 4. Can you send me a small UTF-8 encoded file with the name of the Tajik language, in Tajik. That's what will be recorded in the language choosing step in Debian Installer.
