Comments/Problems:
First of all, I have used graphical installation. I want to write three things.
FIrst during installation I've got information that I have to install some
non-free firmware for my devices. It was
"The missing firmware files are: rtl_nic/rtl8168d-2.fw"
I had no idea what device it is until I have googled it - its some kind of
Realtek drivers, right? Completely ignored it and continued installation. And
somehow my computer still work.
Second thing is that during installation graphical wizard incorrectly showed me
installed Windows version. Showed Windows 7 as "Windows Vista". But
GRUB-isntaller named Windows correctly.
And third thing is for me a big problem. Installer didnt used my Line 6 device.
Ive been using openSUSE 12.2 and Ubuntu 12.04 and both detected it properly as
hardware sound device. But looks like Debian didnt. also I have Google'd and
looks like there arent drivers for my Line 6 in testing version (i have found
only that http://packages.debian.org/pl/squeeze/line6-usb-source). Right now
I'm doing workaround by juast plugging my speakers into PC instead Line 6 but
I would like to have it installed. Also, I've run lsusb command in console and
got it:
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 007 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 046d:c31c Logitech, Inc. Keyboard K120 for Business
Bus 003 Device 003: ID 1532:0015 Razer USA, Ltd
Bus 003 Device 004: ID 03f0:5511 Hewlett-Packard DeskJet F300 series
Bus 004 Device 003: ID 0e41:4153 Line6, Inc.
So I have no idea why I cant use Line6 as my sound card...
Also main reason why I have choose Debian instead metioned Linux distributions:
-I couldn't run Steam and BOINC on openSUSE. Nevertheless this distribution is
my favorite right now.
-Ubuntu 12.04 had a bug that applied on my PC, it causedthat "compiz" was
cosntantly using 25% of my processor and I had problem with sound (it worked
for like 10 or 15 minutes and than I havent sound from any source).
And because Debian is form that same DEB family like Ubuntu, I'm giving Debian
a try. Right now I'm installing via apt-get KDE to replace GNOME and Installing
lightdm to use it as startup-thing like in Ubuntu. In openSUSE I've used gdm
and Cinnamon, but It wasn't as good as I was expecting.
