Hi chris, I don't think the cause your issue is exactly the same as this bug.

But at boot time, GRUB2 would need to load the kernel image from there, among other things. Sorry, even if you could, GRUB2 isn't able to open encrypted LVM partitions by itself. (At least not yet, with the version in wheezy).
