This is a long shot but ... what happens if you try to turn it off and wait before rebooting? I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NS140N, much older than yours, that suffered a hard drive failure --- and maybe more hw problems --- in September. With the replacement SSD I put it, I sometimes get "Operating System not found" upon booting or rebooting. Ctrl-Alt-Del or turning off and back on after a minute will fix it. I suspect there's something flaky with the hardware, though it seems to run fine once it's started. (Unlike you, I don't have EFI. Like you, I do have LVM but this happens before grub anyway.) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-boot-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
